• How do I upload my conference paper?
  The Digital Library of the Commons will be the repository for WOW papers. To upload your paper/abstract, follow below instructions:
  
  • Go to DLC home page.
  • Click Log In in upper right corner.
    • If you are a returning DLC user log in and proceed.
    • If you are a new user, click that option, and answer a few questions to log in.
  • Click + in lefthand sidebar, and select Item from dropdown menu.
  • Select Conference Paper from list, and proceed to enter the information as completely as you can.
  • Attach your paper, in pdf format.
  • When finished select +Deposit button, and you are finished!

• Will copies of papers be available at the conference?
  No, paper copies will not be provided.

• What if my co-authors change or my affiliation or titles change from submission?
  The conference is using the Whova App. All presenters can update their titles, affiliations, bios, co-authors, and even add supplemental materials prior to the conference. Note: WOW7 staff will not be updating any of this information for you.

• Can I present over Zoom or can one of my panel present over Zoom if they can't travel or get sick last minute?
  No, we are not going to have a remote presentation option during the conference.

• Will panel sessions be recorded or live streamed?
  No, recording and live video streaming services of panels will not be available.  We will record the plenary sessions and post them to our YouTube Channel.

• What time shall I have for my presentation?
  Panels will be 90 minutes. At least 30 minutes should be reserved for questions and discussion after presentations. That leaves a maximum of 60 minutes for all presentations on a panel, so, for example, if you are on a panel with four presenters, each presenter would have a maximum of 15 minutes.

• What is the presentation equipment in a meeting room?
  Presentation rooms will be equipped with a laptop and projector for PowerPoint presentations. Please bring your presentation on a USB flash  drive.

• When and where will the poster sessions be held?
  The first day of the conference (June 19^th) we are going to have a lovely reception between 5:15 P.M. and 6:30 P.M. in the Indiana University President’s Hall. This is included in registration. Drinks and appetizers are provided.  Poster presenters are requested to staff posters at this time.  Posters will be located around the hall, allowing for a wonderful time of visiting and socializing along with research discussions.

• Do I need to post the paper for my poster AND my poster?
  Papers are to be posted in the Digital Library of the Commons (DLC). Posters do not need to be uploaded to the DLC. To upload your paper, follow this LINK, click "Submit an Item" and follow the directions. Papers must include THIS COVER PAGE with your information on it. The DLC has been updated and instructions will be available soon.

• Will copies of papers be available at the conference?
  No, paper copies will not be provided.

• What if my co-authors change or my affiliation or titles change from submission? Can I add people?  Can they present with me?
  The conference is using the Whova App. We are testing out the poster capability now, but we are tentatively planning an ability to be able to upload a poster to the app prior to the conference. All presenters can update their titles, affiliations, bios, co-authors, and even add supplemental materials prior to the conference. Note: WOW7 staff will not be updating any of this information for you.  Yes, co-authors may certainly stand with you at the poster.

• What time do I need to be at the poster session?
  Please bring your poster to the President's Hall between 4:45 and 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 19th. The reception starts at 5:30 PM.

• When and where will the poster sessions be held?
  The first day of the conference (June 19^th) we are having a lovely reception between 5:30 P.M. and 7 P.M. in the Indiana University President’s Hall. This is included in registration. Drinks and appetizers are provided.  Poster presenters are requested to staff posters at this time.  Posters will be located around the hall, allowing for a wonderful time of visiting and socializing along with research discussions. See the map for a visual of the Hall. Poster presenters will be assigned a board number at time of the entrance to the Hall (if not before).

• What size should my poster be?
  Your posters should be no larger than 40x40 inches or 1 metre x 1 metre. You may choose to have a square or rectangle. As long as it is within those dimensions, it can be horizontal or vertical. You'll be mounting the poster on a solid board (not on an easel).

• What should you avoid in a poster?
  Avoid very long titles. A short and clear title will give your poster's reader an instant idea of what the poster is about. Avoid font sizes below 24 point, anything smaller than this will require the reader to stand very close to the poster, and may be uncomfortable to read. Avoid using too many different type faces.

• Do you put references/citations on a poster presentation? Yes, please include your sources on a research poster, just as you would for a paper.

• How do you prepare for a poster session at a conference? Prepare and practice a 1-2 minute oral presentation of your research prior to the event.  During the poster session, stand near your poster for the bulk of the reception to field discussion, questions, etc.  

• Can my poster be displayed if I am unable to attend the conference? No. Please contact the WOW organizers as soon as possible if you do not plan to present your poster.

• Is there a poster award? Yes, attendees will be able to vote for the poster that (1) best aligns with the conference theme (2) is clear and visually appealing. The awards will be given at the closing dinner.

• How do I get my poster to Bloomington, Indiana if I am flying on a plane? There are several print shops in Bloomington (Staples, Office Depot and more) where you can send a poster to be printed. Indiana University Document Services can print AND have it delivered to the Ostrom Workshop at 513 N. Park Avenue, Bloomington, IN 47408.

• How do I contact Collins for help with a late check-in or other problem?

• Would it be possible to extend my accomodation booking?
  No. If you are in the conference hotel, the stay is bounded by the limitations in the registration form. There is a large conference coming into Collins on Saturday and it will fill ALL of the IU on campus housing. No exceptions.

• Can I check in late or leave early (Collins)?
  Yes, your reservation is one rate and is held for you. You can check in on any date within the Tuesday-Friday range and check out Wed-Saturday morning. Everyone must be out by 11 am Saturday.
• What other hotel options are there?
  See the lodging page for other hotels with discounted rates and local suggestions.  The IMU is also very close.
• Parking?
  • There is a surface lot (CH/EMS/EMP) lot near Hillcrest apartments, with 15 spots for CH. Take me to Hillcrest Parking

• I may need a Visa to attend the conference. How can I find out and what kind of visit Visa is appropriate?  Also, what if I am from an IU Partner Institution?

• Are there letters available from the Ostrom Workshop?
  • Yes, please send an email to wow@indiana.edu and request a letter for your visa.  All requests must be made prior to March 8, 2024. After March 8th, letter requests are as we can accomodate.

• How long can a Visa take?
  • Visa wait times vary for individual consulates. Check this website for approximate wait times.

I received a letter indicating I have funding.

• What days of the accomodations are covered?  You can checkin any date you wish starting the Tuesday, 18 June. Checkout must be before 11:00 AM on Saturday, 22 June.  It is one rate for one or more nights.
• I see the funding is for a double room. Do I have to share with someone? Yes, the Ostrom Workshop is funding early registration double-room accomodations in Collins. You can select a roommate and they need to select you at registration or a roommate will be assigned.

I have to travel a great distance and cannot afford flights, but I have been accepted to present. Is there funding available?

• The Ostrom Workshop has limited funding to assist presenters that are students and junior faculty from low-middle income countries. Unfortunately we are not able to provide travel funds for anyone.

• What is the weather like in Bloomington in June?

• Childcare
  For liability reasons, the Ostrom Workshop cannot provide any child care, nor any direct referrals or recommendations.

• Reimagining the State
  • I just found out about the follow-on conference, "Reimagining the State in Governing the Commons: Synergies in Analytical Frameworks and Tools". Can I still register? Answer:  They have opened a waiting list on the application page. You can sign up here.
• Book display
  All participants are invited to bring copies of their recent publications to be exhibited at the book display. The location is to be solidified in the coming months. If your work may be ordered through a publisher, feel free to include flyers or order forms.
